He pulled the mirrors off his cadillac … (A day at London Zoo)

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I feel immensely guilty for letting this blog lie dormant for so long, but I had absolutely no willpower to make myself write anything and photos are so much easier to share via Twitter and Instagram. So, whoever is still hanging around this wasteland… hey there, brave souls. 🙂
Let me tell you about the time we took Lime to London Zoo. It should be ‚the zoo‘, clearly, but apparently London Zoo is a name so it doesn’t have a ‚the‘.. but I digress…
The Ba loves ‚Martys‘ (Zebras, to you and me 😉 ) and Monkeys and Lions ((rooooaaaaaar) so we thought: why not. The last time the Husband and I went to said zoo, we said we’re not coming back unless there’s a child involved. We are no fans of zoos; animals in captivity don’t really do it for either of us and leaving immensely sad, every time I’m subjected to this kind of environment, is not something I enjoy doing in my free time.
So, child in tow, we marched through Regent’s Park to the entrance of ZSL and it being May and cold and windy, I didn’t have much hope to be quite frank.

We started off with the Gorillas because they are first on the route round the park. Sure enough, one of the big guys sat outside, bored, and depressing looking but there you have it. Lime took a while to warm up to all of this so the first stop was underwhelming.

Just around the corner they had some Mangabeys and those guys just had a baby recently and of course that was a huge draw. I spent some time taking too many photos. Here’s a blurry one. Mummy monkey was cleaning baby monkey.
All together now.. d’awwwwww 😀
And after that, off we went for lunch. There’s a huge tent in the middle of the zoo and they sell warm food stuff (Pizza, Fish&Chips etc) as well as cold (sandwiches, salad..) and drinks. We had a quarter Pizza each with chips on the side. It was ok, nothing I’d pay £5/each for again. Oh, in case you want to go there with your kids: they want you to leave your Buggy outside, but a few parents had their very little ones inside the buggy, inside the tent. Nobody complained so you should be fine if you choose to do the same.

Catching up: Part 2 We were there! Paralympics 2012

On the 5th day of this month we took the tube up to the Olympic park.

The husband’s parents had purchased tickets for us, my brother-in-law and themselves. We arrived 3 or 4 hours before the 7pm entry.

It was a lovely, warm day in London and it seemed everybody else had the same idea (arriving early, that is) so we just wandered around, took lots of photos and shared them on instagram (You should be able to check them out here, just scroll down far enough 😉 ) and then decided to have lunch.

Catching up: Part 1 Lime’s Birthday

Ohhh, it’s been quiet around here, hasn’t it? Hope you all haven’t deserted this little place just yet. 🙂

So what have we been up to? Lime has been keeping us busy, learning new words every day, loving the swings and slides in the park and having play dates with her friend Aiden.

Me, I’ve kinda got sidetracked back in I think May or whatever when my desire to watch Brokeback Mountain again took over and after I’ve watched it I got carried away with things related to it. I don’t think I’ve ever read as much as I did in the past few months :s

There are a few events I have to catch up on: Lime’s birthday in August (this one), our visit to Brighton and the Paralympics… I hope to have them all up by the end of the week. (Ha, here’s to wishful thinking.)

Remember last year, we had some friends and my family around for a picnic in the park. This year, we did almost the same thing but with different guests.

Jenny, Nicki and Uncle Michael
Lime had fun on the swings, wearing her Lime-dress, just like last year
The children had some fun of their own…
‚The Gay Kite‘

The day was beautiful and we had lots of fun eating sandwiches, home baked cake and playing Crazy Golf.

Belonging

Conversation with Lime (21 months) just now:

Me: Are you Russian?

Lime: No

Me: Are you German?

Lime: No

Me: Are you French?

Lime: No

Me: Are you American?

Lime: No

Me: Are you English?

Lime: Yes

O_O

Wow…we didn’t expect that.

Edit: Should have mentioned this: we’ve never spoken about her being any nationality, have never asked her these questions before so it was truly amazing and mind blowing (yes, indeed) to hear her replies.

Lime: 20 months on

Darling Lime

This is long overdue, I think the last time I wrote about you and your achievements in the baby & toddler department was…last year. :s

You are now 20 months…in less than 4 months you’ll be 2 years old. 2 years! Oh dear…

You are amazing. We have so much fun with you, enjoying the family kisses & hugs, watching endless repeats of your 4 favourite shows (same episodes too :s) and more…

We have been going through a round of Homeopathy to see if we can help you take the next step in toddlerhood, and it seems to work, slowly but surely: you have definitely started eating more. It’s still minuscule amounts, but you seem to actually enjoy it.

Something to look forward to for you: in the summer, we are going to Germany to see Opa. It’s his 50th birthday and we’re all very excited. 😀 You’ll be seeing my grandparents again as well. You have last seen them at Christmas 2010 which is a loooong time ago now. Sadly, my Oma (Opa’s mum) passed away last month, but we’ll visit her too.

You love meeting up with your friend Aiden. You two copy each other, it’s hilarious. He started eating paper and you picked up the climb-on-a-chair-and-rock-it. Such fun.

I would like to ask you to forgive me for being stressed when you are having a hard time. It’s tough for me when I can’t figure out what’s wrong and I can’t make it better.

And Papa would like to say sorry for still not knowing how to put on the night nappies correctly ;p

Baba, you are the love of our lives. It has to be said. Lots&lots of kisses! Mwah!

Mummy&Papa ♥
